My adoption agency is PLAN Loving Adoptions. PLAN
has been connected to Vietnamese adoption for many
years. I have loved working with them and have
already gained new insight, knowledge and wisdom
about the adoption process.
The history of PLAN is unique compared to other
adoption agencies. In 1973, four adoptive families in
McMinnville, Oregon banded together for support and to
help others drawn to helping homeless children. At that
time, the Vietnamese children left orphaned and
abandoned by the Vietnam War were in desperate need.
After setting up programs to help these children, the
families expanded their efforts to provide complete
adoption services, which now serve hundreds of
families throughout the United States every year. Over
the last 30 years PLAN has placed thousands of children
in permanent, loving homes. (Courtesy of PLAN loving

Cherie Clark has worked in Vietnam for PLAN for
a long time. She has worked with orphans and
children from all over the world, but has a very
compelling history outlined in her book, After
Sorrow Comes Joy.
During Operation Babylift - an emergency
evacuation of 2,000 orphans from Vietnam -
Cherie Clark was a key player, and one of the
only women evacuated twice from the hell that
followed the American withdrawal from Vietnam.
This book recounts the first thirty years of this
remarkable woman's life - from her birth in
small-town Peru, Indiana, through April 1975,
when she dodged enemy rocket attacks to
escape from Saigon's famous Tan Son Nhut
airport with a plane filled with babies. (courtesy
